Armenian Taverna - members' reviews |
"Popped in at 9 on a Saturday night - we hadn't booked. Despite being busy they made us a table. Excellent place, really lively and the food was perfect. We shared the mezze and a few starters with the speciality lavash flatbreads. Because everything looked so tasty, we couldn't decide what to eat! The addition of local Armenian beers would make this place perfect (Efes or Peroni only on the menu)." -clare lamont, manchester 29/11/08 (visited on a saturday evening)

"We visited Armenian Taverna after reading good reviews on Restaurants Of Manchester about it. My husband and I were a little cautious on arrival as you have to go down some stairs to enter the restaurant, however we are glad we did as we were pleasantly surprised. We had a lovely meal, the Armenian Banquet to share was delicious and the atmosphere was authentic for the type of cusine. We were even entertained by a couple of guys who played instruments for approx. 15 mins whilst we ate, this was good fun and made you forget you were even in Manchester for a while, felt like being on holiday. Can't wait to go back again soon." - michelle, rochdale 6/10/08 (visited on a friday evening) |

"An ideal place for a quick, no fuss, reasonably priced meal with a different touch to it. Armenian definitely isn't something which you would think about eating off the top of your head, but if you like Turkish/Greek food, then this place cant really disappoint with its simple, well cooked, tasty fayre. Plenty of grilled meats, fish, salads, hummous, rice, etc.
It's bordering on being a bit of a Manchester institution these days, after so many years of being open, and I'd definitely suggest anybody visiting it, if only for the experience.
Not one for gourmet meals, nor is it one for the list to take your Mrs on a romantic night out, unless she's game for a laugh, but for what you pay, you cant really go wrong for a fun night out." - chris handley, manchester 20/5/08 (visited on a saturday evening) |

"I went into the Armenian Tavern not really knowing what to expect. I thought it may be overly spicy, but I was very pleased at how well everything was cooked. Good quality ingredients had been used, and the range of dishes available was overwhelming. My friend and I ordered the Armenian Banquet, as we had never had the cuisine of Armenia before, so we wished to sample as many variations as possible. It even came with a sparkler, which is standard for anyone that chooses that dish. There was a great mixture of meats and salads on the platter, and by the end I was very full, especially as the banquet comes as a thee course meal. The decor is very much in keeping with the cuisine, and I would expect this place to be a real hive of excitement in the evening time. I would certainly return to sample other examples of cuisine from that part of the world." - paul, bolton 28/3/08 (visited on a thursday lunch) |
