Lights Of India Restaurant Manchester - reader comments

"We visited with a visitor from Sweden, as a result of it appearing on Restaurants Of Manchester with rave reviews, but my chicken tasted poor and was far too salty, everything that came out of the kitchen was orange (even the so-called Mint Raita), another version of Mint Raita we requested was just thick yogurt and had no mint or cucumber. Extremely disappointing." - jane jones, poynton 27/11/08 (visited on a tues evening)

"Absolutely love this restaurant, just celebrated the father in law's 60th birthday, staff could not do enough for you. The food is lovely, it is such a lovely place to go for a curry without the trek to Rusholme, and much cleaner than any restaurant in Rusholme, and I have been in nearly all of them. Can't fault this place at all, I have recommended it to all my friends and they love it also." - karen morris, salford 20/10/08 (visited on a sat evening)

"Visited on a Saturday early evening prior to a visit to the theatre and had a meal from the Twilight Menu at £5.95. What great value that turned out to be! Fantastic food at a great price with excellent service - what else could you ask for? The owner was a true gent and offered a complimentary brandy. We will definitely be visiting again in the very near future." - david livsey, royton 20/7/08 (visited on a saturday evening)

"The Twighlight Special Offer Menu offers vegetarians no choice for changing dishes to say Daal or Paneer. Surely vegetarians do have choice and veg is far cheaper than lamb. The Dupiaza dish should be called 'onion curry' as it only had one broccoli and two potatoes in it with the rest just onions. Go to Wilmslow Road in Rusholme and any of the menu's there would beat this." - raj chauhan, manchester 15/7/08 (visited on a friday evening)

"The waiter had no communication skills and the food was bland with a capital B - no difference between the taste of Bhuna and Dopiaza." - sal, manchester 20/4/08 (visited on a saturday evening)

"I visted the restaurant early on Sunday evening and was very impressed, everything was great. Fantastic value for money. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Thanks for a great night." - kevin slater, manchester 6/4/08 (visited on a sunday evening)

"I visited there with my work collegues on Friday 7th December - the atmosphere was relaxed and lively. I had one of the signature dishes (Chicken Manpasand). It was very nice... highly recommended. The owner was very nice and polite. We visted at 8.00pm and it was very busy, I even spotted Manchester City's manager there... Overall good value for money and we will be visiting again." - shahista rafique, bolton 17/12/07 (visited on a friday evening)

"Neither my wife nor I could actually taste anything we ate. Seriously. We aren't Vindaloo types, but there really was no variation - it was bland with a capital B. We came out thinking "That was a waste of £45". The restaurant was empty (20:00 - 21:45) on 11th December - wouldn't you think that a Central Manchester Indian Restaurant would have been even a bit busy if it was any good? How this get in the top 10 restaurants in Manchester is either a miracle or a fiddle. I have had better food delivered to the door, cheaper. Leave this one alone." - brian coggins, southport 12/12/07 (visited on a tuesday evening)
