Avalanche marks the return of Italian food to the building where it all began in Manchester. Isola Bella was the first Italian restaurant in the city, when it opened and now Avalanche is bringing the high-end Italian cuisine back to the same venue.
Avalanche is situated in the heart of the new 'Italian Quarter' on Booth Street between Albert Square, and prestigious King Street in the building that used to house Lime Bar. The light, bright and luxurious interior of Avalanche has been designed to create a relaxed atmosphere during the day, and at night Avalanche emulates the fine dining establishments of Paris and Monte Carlo.
The beauty and grace of the restaurant is encapsulated in Avalanche's grand chandelier which is 100 kilos of bespoke, hand crafted crystal and crowns those walking along the stairway. The owners of Avalanche previously ran several successful restaurants in both Manchester and London. Bahman 'Bob' Ghojehvand traded in Don Giovannis, which he started in 1984, for 30 years before selling his stake in 2010.
Avalanche, an Italian trattoria concept, aims to bring the finest of traditions of Italian food to the area. The menu is an Italian fusion style with Executive Chef, John Thompson, having been behind a string of high-quality restaurants in the UK including 39 Steps, San Carlo Cicchetti, and internationally in Dubai, the Algarve, Kuwait, and Bangkok.
This means the that high-quality Italian cuisine forms the bedrock of the menu but influences from across the Mediterranean, together with modern British cuisine, form cosmopolitan themes in the dishes. Classic Italian dishes such as Spazattino D'Agenello and Bruschetta Di Buffalo are executed with style and flair and sit alongside dishes that have been given a modern twist.
Avalanche specialises in fish and seafood courses with delectable examples being fresh halibut baked in the oven and served on baby spinach and topped with creamy butter sauce. The king prawn and lobster dishes are also a must try.
Apart from enjoying a mouth watering menu, whilst relaxing in the beautiful surroundings of the restaurant, you can also enjoy drinking in one of the three bars. For those who would like a more private gathering, there are also two luxurious VIP rooms available to book.
