Wagamama Printworks Japanese Restaurant Manchester - reader comments

Trusted Reviewer "There's no denying that Wagamama is a fantastic restaurant. Healthy food at healthy prices and a concept that's popular the world over. Our visit to the Printworks branch, the first UK opening outside of London back in 2000, ticked most of the boxes. The unfortunate fact that the steamer had broken ahead of our visit meant that the healthy dishes suddenly became deep fried but nonetheless our taste buds were still left satisfied even if our get fit diets didn't.

Service was extremely friendly, our waiter was amongst the best we've come across in Manchester, very attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed, and oosing with politeness. Whilst the canteen style seating isn't to everybody's liking - the guy on the bench in front of me should have been forced to wear a belt, or at the least Wagamama could have advertised bicycle parking facilities during his visit. You'd have to be extremely unlucky to complain about the food. Whilst the deep fried Yasai Gyozas (£4.65) were disappointing, at least for the fact they weren't steamed and healthy, the Yasai Nasubi Salad (£7.10) made up for this. It was a big let down that the full price for the Yasai Gyozas was charged, even though they weren't as advertised, but in fairness the waiter did mention this when we ordered.

All in all, Wagamama is a great restaurant and the concept, which has now been exported to 12 different countries, delivers on each occassion. The consistency, in our experience at least, is usually only tempered by the differing architecture or the individual waiting staff. With the exception of a dodgy steamer, the Manchester Printworks branch ticks all the right boxes." - restaurants of manchester 11/3/09 (visited on a tuesday lunchtime)
