Too Many Cooks Spoil The Broth... Unless They've All Got Michelin Stars!
Celebrity chef Michael Caines doned his whites in the kitchen of his Piccadilly restaurant to create an amazing meal for a special charity dinner, in aid of Hospitality Action. Michael, who holds two Michelin stars at his Gidleigh Park restaurant in Exeter, now plans an amazing three chef charity dinner for next year, featuring local Michelin chefs, Nigel Haworth and Paul Heathcote. ~ 18 Oct
 
 
 
Explosion at Manchester Food & Drink Festival
Celebrity chef Andrew Nutter captured the moment (left) when a gas explosion left three people seriously burned at The Manchester Food & Drink Festival. The explosion was caused when a propane gas cylinder caught fire at the Chillikoko stall, outside the Town Hall on Albert Square, at 8:45pm on Monday. Andrew, who runs the highly-celebrated Nutter's Restaurant in Rochdale, was taking part in a food quiz close to the stall and Tweeted that he could smell burning flesh. The Festival has now re-opened. ~ 10 oct

Jamie Oliver Delays Manchester Launch
The most highly-anticipated Manchester restaurant launch in living memory has been delayed once more, with Jamie Oliver announcing that the lavish King Street branch of his Jamie's Italian is looking to now be in 2012. The popular rustic Italian restaurant will join 23 other branches around the globe, with Liverpool and Leeds being the closest for those desperate to get their tongue around Jamie's Tuscan Wild Boar Sausage. ~ 1 Sep

The Manchester vodka bar chain, Revolution, have announced plans to try and attract more diners with a whole host of food-based measures. ~ 27th Oct

Istanbul Grill is set to open in the long time vacant Peter Street premises which were once occupied by the Baby Grand bar. ~ 21st Oct

1950's Americana themed chain, Ed's Easy Diner, have seen their plans for a branch upstairs at Piccadilly Station fall through. They will look for alternative locations in Manchester sometime in 2012 ~ 20th Oct

FYG Deli has opened in the Tib Street unit next door to Simple. ~ 14th Oct

After organising secret supper clubs at their home in Bury since September 2010, Monica Sawhney and her family open The Spice Club pop-up Indian restaurant in Spinningfields on 22 October. ~ 8th Oct

Live Nation are set to refurbish their O2 Manchester Apollo, extending the art deco theme which was developed in the venue's new Circle Bar last year. Meanwhile, there are also plans for an eight-storey 136 bedroom hotel, restaurant and car park on the empty plot of land nextdoor. ~ 5th Oct
