Greater Manchester Police
North West Electricity
Not Feeding The Meter
Following police raids, five Rusholme restaurants have had their electricty meters removed or main supplies disconnected. Following investigations by Electricity North West, it was suspected that Friends Restaurant, Marmara Grill, Raja’s, Wilmslow Road Steak & Grill and Marmara Shisha had all tampered with their electricity and gas supplies, bypassing the mains meters and putting customers at serious risk of fire and explosions. The premises have now all been served with closure notices, financial penalties and criminal prosecution. It is the lastest battle Manchester City Council and the Rusholme Traders Association are having with rogue traders in the area, with most shisha cafes ignoring the smoking ban.
