There are many traditional Chinese restaurants in Manchester with the first, the Ping Hong on Mosley Street, opening in 1948.
By 1960, sixteen more restaurants were open and the boom continued well into the '70s with the 600 capacity Willow Garden opening in 1962, followed later by Kwok Man (1972), Charlie Chan's (1973), the Woo Sang (1976) and probably the most famous Chinese restaurant in Europe, the Yang Sing (1978).
Whilst many restaurants are located around China Town in Manchester city centre, there's also a huge choice of Chinese restaurants elsewhere in the city and the surrounding area.
Many of the Chinese restaurants in Manchester are focused around Chinatown and here you'll find everything from buffet restaurants to fine-dining Cantonese restaurants.
You'll even find Chinese cookery classes and many large Chinese supermarkets in Manchester, selling directly imported ingredients, alongside rare food and drink, for you to be able to recreate your favourite Chinese dishes at home.
